Untangling headphones

Those few common tasks and puzzles that are so common in our daily lives and yet so unmentioned in conversation. The one that I recently consciously realized was the task of untangling headphones or other wires. It's like a puzzle, and one that I do almost daily. It's such an ordinary part of my life, I don't even really think about it, I just do it.

If you can think of others, throw some in the comments :)

  1. This is one of the worst parts of using headphones on a daily basis. If it's not taken slow, it won't unwrap, but I still cant help but try yanking the knot it as hard as I can in hopes that it might come undone.

  3. your post makes me think of Beats by Dre studios I purchased a while back. I honestly cannot endorse them and are quite possibly one of the worst manufactured headphones ever.

  6. Driving stick shift. It's pretty complex when you think about it, but I do it so naturally now. Like my mind is one with the car.

  9. when i'm not using my headphones i coil them like rope and use a bread tie to keep them from getting tangled. for other wired messes such as CoDgirl's xbox, get a pack of zip ties and eliminate the problem once and for all.

  17. I recently switched to Dannon Light n Fit, but when I used to eat Yoplait, sometimes the "lip" of the cover wouldn't be on there....trying to peel the damn cover off to eat the yogurt was a pain in the ass.

I teach kindergarten, and trying to get knots out of the kids shoes is an annoying daily practice.

Great post! New blog user myself!

  20. I like on the ipod how they have that little clip that slides up to the top of the ear buds and connects them together. Once I figured out that trick, I never had to untangle stupid cords again.

  24. Wireless headphones sound really cool. Also, sometimes if I wrap my earphones up neatly the wire stays untangled, which is good when I need to take them out and put them away frequently.

  27. Throw them away and buy new ones. Pay someone to do it for you. Wear them no matter how tangled they are. Use it as a cat toy.
